EsoBites: THE WORLD TREE UPANISHAD

Part of a new Rose-Croix series analyzing the R+C adage:  God of my Heart (in the ancient sense), God of my Realization.  Not much point saying such until we completely understand its full significance.

The 22nd Path – The One True God

[setting] Mother and the children were busily creating a Persian carpet on Mother’s loom. The children could see that they were helping Mother weave a wondrous Mandela which symbolized a great teaching.

[Mother] Looking up from her loom, Mother said. See children, I told you that Father would be with us soon for your lesson. So sit down in front of Father and listen. All four sat down upon the carpeted floor. Father began his tale.

[Father] Today, I am going to tell you a tale that a wise man living in a secluded part of the Arabian desert told me. He lived very far away from any city and to visit him was an arduous and dangerous journey. The wise man was very kind and answered every question presented to the best of his ability. Being wise, he realized that fiction was often the best narrative style, so to be of benefit to each questioner, as most people do not want to be told the actual truth, only an approximation.

One day, a grand Caliph came to my small abode near a beautiful oasis. He had traveled for many months. I showed him a clear water pond to wash off the desert girt. After he was rested, my djinn brought him food and beverage. After his Highness was refreshed, I brought a pot of fresh coffee, two gold cups and some dates. We chatted for a moment and then I asked, "Why have you come to visit a humble man?"

The Caliph replied, "You are reputed to be the wisest and most practical imam in all of the lands. I beg you, tell me if Allah is the One True God?"

I smiled and said, "There is ONLY ONE TRUE GOD. Go home, and worship as you have been taught."

One day a grand Cardinal of the Roman Church came to my small abode near a beautiful oasis.

The Cardinal replied, "In my country, you are reputed to be the wisest and most practical monk and close to our Lord. I beg you, tell me if Our Father is the One True God?"

I smiled and said, "There is ONLY ONE TRUE GOD. Go home, and worship as you have been taught."

One day an ancient Kabbalist came to my small abode near a beautiful oasis.

The Kabbalist replied, "You are reputed to be the wisest and most practical Kabbalist in all of the lands. I beg you, tell me if Creator is the One True God?"

I smiled and said, "There is ONLY ONE TRUE GOD. Go home, and worship as you have been taught."

Several months later, the djinn asked me, "Holy Father, why did you lie to each of your visitors telling them that their God was the correct God?"

I replied, "My dear friend, I did not lie or mislead any of the three. Did I not say to return home and worship the One True God? I was not more specific for I realized that each only wanted his personal God, and not the True God. They may not find God, but God will find them if they practice long enough so to discover, that it is the fragrance of the rose which is most pleasant and not the color or name. Come, let us have some coffee."

And with that my friend and I disappeared for I meant coffee in Paris.

[Radha] But, Father, why did these men not realize that you and Mother are the One True God?

[Mother] Mother glanced at Father and they both began to laugh. Mother said. Sweet child, your Father and I are not the One True God. We are not Brahman, the unfathomable source, the singularity which is an infinity, the undescribable state without each and every universe, the time and place which is not temporal nor spatial, the existing Nonexistence, and so on.

We have existed in many universes under many different names and have taught many paths to enlightenment. We are present when no universe is present. We are the culmination of the endless striving of Brahman to manifest Eternal Beings who can serve as objectified Divinities for the self-aware creatures of an evolving universe. We are Atman, we are not Atman; we are neither Atman nor not Atman.

For you, Father and I are your parents who created you physically and are leading you towards enlightenment. To you and many other seekers, we are Lord Krishna and Lady Radha–the Divine Couple radiating unconditional love.

For the birth and culmination of unconditional love, love under suprarational reason, is found only through the making of choices and the suffering of the consequences thereof. We are here as parents to all self-aware creatures, parents providing hope and guidance when requested.

Come let us contemplate the lesson given and finish by radiating lovingkindness to all beings.
